first started as a volunteer Chaplain with Greenville County Sheriff’s Office in December 2001. The following year, I became a reserve deputy as well. I served in those positions until July 2017 when I was asked to become a full time Chaplain and Deputy. At 59 years old, I went back to the Criminal Justice Academy for 12 weeks to obtain my Class 1 Law Enforcement certification. Prior to becoming full time, I was Senior Pastor in three upstate SC Southern Baptist Churches for a total of 30 years. I have an Associate Degree from Fruitland Baptist Bible College, Bachelors Degree from Liberty University and a Masters Degree from North Greenville University. I am a basic certified Chaplain through ICPC. I love chaplaincy and look forward to serving with chaplains across our state through SCPSCA!

Chris Wade, Past President
Chris has over 20 years of public safety experience working in both fire and law enforcement as a firefighter/EMT, police officer, and chaplain. In 2015 he graduated from Multnomah Seminary in Portland, Oregon with his M.Div in Chaplaincy with a focus on public safety chaplaincy. He is also an instructor and Master Fire Chaplain with the Federation of Fire Chaplains. He currently serves as Chaplain for South Carolina State Fire and is based out of the state fire academy in Columbia. Chris has a heart to see all public safety chaplains in the state equipped to serve those to whom they are called and to see our first responders find healing when times are tough.
